Raleigh Newborn Photographer Callie Doty

Hi, friend!

A good friend asked me in college, “What do you love most about yourself?” It struck me off guard, because at the time, I didn't have an off the cuff answer. No one had asked me that question before. After mulling around the thoughts in my head for awhile, I looked back and him and said, “I love that I can create beauty.”

I began my photography journey years ago. Even before kids, I knew I loved motherhood. Then, when we began our long journey with infertility my perspective on motherhood developed. Motherhood was no longer just “having kids.” It was a calling, a breath of grace, & a literal miracle on earth. Now knowing & living motherhood, I understand, it’s also really, really hard. But even on our hardest days, knowing that I’m living the life I only once pleaded for, helps me to catch the beauty of motherhood. Which in turn gives me meaning to photography. I want to capture the glimmers of motherhood: the smiles of admiration and joy that you did not even know existed. So in college, maybe I loved that I could create beauty, but now, I love that I can discover it.

When I'm not behind a camera, I am a true homebody. My best days are spent with my best friend and husband Lucas, our two mischievous identical twin boys, Jack & Charlie and our flock of backyard chicks. We'll most likely be drinking coffee and either messing up the kitchen, playing in the garden with my black thumb, walking the trails around our house, or catching a rare moment out on the Kayaks. To catch more of my life in front of the lens, check out my instagram.
